Notes

  • This pattern is written in US terminology.

  • This pattern is a modification of the Jade the Dragon Snuggler Pattern. You will need that pattern in order to proceed.

  • This pattern is worked in continuous rounds unless otherwise stated.

  • Each part starts with a magic ring unless otherwise stated, but you can use the ch2 starting method if you prefer. You can also use regular acrylic yarn to make your magic ring if you have trouble with the chenille yarn. To ensure the magic ring is secure, I like to crochet several stitches in round 2 over the tail.

  • I highly recommend using a stitch marker to keep track of the first stitch of each round

  • When working into a chain, I like to go in the back humps of the chain rather than the side. It makes the edges look neater.

  • () at the end of a round/row indicate the stitch count for that round/row

  • This pattern is mostly low sew, but you can sew the pieces on if you’d prefer.

  • Please if you have any questions or need clarification on any part, reach out to me and I will help! You can contact me at wolvyncreations@gmail.com or @wolvyncreations on Instagram

Pattern

Heart Frills

Small

Make 2 in Color B

R1: [hdc, tr, ss, tr, hdc] in a magic ring. (5)

Pull the ring closed tight and leave a short tail. This piece will be crocheted in. The stitches will fold over to make it look like a heart.

Large

Make 2 in Color A

R1: 6sc in a magic circle (6)

R2: dc, ss, [sc, hdc, 2tr], ss, [2tr, hdc, sc], ss (10)

FO and leave a short tail. This piece will be crocheted in.

Bow

In Color C, this piece is worked in rows.

R1:Ch71, turn, starting from the 2nd ch from the hook, 70sc (70)

R2: ch1, turn, 70sc (70)

R3: ch1, turn, 70sc (70)

FO and weave in ends. This will just be tied on.

Horns

With Color C and a 3.5mm hook, refer to the horns in the Jade pattern

Wings

With Color B refer to the wings in the Jade pattern

Arms and Feet

In Colors A and B, refer to the arms and feet in the Jade pattern

Tail/Body

In Color B

R1: 6sc in a magic ring (6)

R2: (sc, inc) x 3 (9)

FO and leave a tail for sewing closed gaps.

Repeat R1-2, but do not FO.

R3: starting in the next unworked stitch in the first piece, 9sc, then work 9sc into the second piece. (18)

R4: (sc, dec) x 6 (12)

R5: (sc, dec) x 4 (8)

Stuff the heart and use the first tail to sew closed the top of the hearts and any gaps. Weave that end in.

R6: 4dec (4)

R7: FO color B, and add color A, 4sc (4)

Refer back to the Jade pattern for the rest of the body, starting at R4. You may need to adjust which stitches you crochet the arms into depending on how the heart tail lays. You want the heart tail to be parallel to the body and arms. If you are tying a knot in the tail, make sure you tie the knot before you attach the arms.

Head

In Color A, refer to the head in the Jade pattern. For R9 you will add the frills using only the first stitch that the pattern uses, instead of 2. You may need to adjust which stitches you add the frills in based on tension and yarn. They should be even on either side and the last 3 stitches of the round the body will be crocheted in.

Assembly

Horns to head

Sew the horns between 8-9, with 2-3 stitches between.

Feet to Body

Sew the feet to the front of the body, just above the tail, making sure the offset toe matches your arms.

Wings to Body

Sew the wings to the back of the body, 1-2 rounds below the neck with 2-3 stitches between.

Bow

Tie the bow around the neck, so that the bow is facing out from the back.

Congratulations!
